RMK Crew – a talent agency for crew that represents over a hundred crew across
all areas of production and post production. Prior to launching crew, he
had various full time and freelancing jobs as a writer, producer and director
at such places as Fox Kids, Channel 10, Area 51, Crackerjack, Fox Sports,
Foxtel Box office, The History Channel, The Biography Channel, CI, Channel V
& Music Max, Movie Network, Channel 9, Fremantle Media, SBS and a number of
radio stations. Although he has been known to throw things at the TV, he
loves the promo industry (and he still has a soft spot for regional radio ads).
SHOOT TO KILL
Once upon a time, promo shoots were a rare commodity – a sacred,
rare occasion in the career of a promo producer. This fabled event
usually came along once a year (right after the channel budget was given out...
and just before it was taken away).
These days technology has dramatically reduced the costs of shooting promos and
thankfully promo shoots are more accessible and more prominent than ever
before. And few could argue that the best way to generate cut through concepts
is with a promo shoot. A shoot gives the writer the freedom to step
outside the formula (and program footage supplied) and instead come up with
original, interesting and unique ways to sell a program.
But once you make the decision to shoot, how do you ensure that your shoot is
the best that it can be? That the execution lifts and adds to the idea?
That you have the right camera, lenses, lighting, rigging and so on? This
session is the television production equivalent of James Bond walking through
the lab with Q – an uber-cool, ridiculously impressive and rather expensive
show-and-tell session where you get to see and experience the very latest,
state of the art equipment, techniques and procedures that ensure your next
shoot is bang on target.
Industry experts and VA Hire will be bringing along some of the very latest
equipment on the market and showing you how it all works and what results you
can achieve for your next shoot - on any budget. And we’ll also be having
a look at some of the best shot promos we’ve seen on air this year and finding
out how they did it.
We will give you the knowledge you need to make your next shoot a killer!
