Olivier Schaack
Olivier
Schaack has worked in Television Promo and Design for almost 20 years.
After formative experiences at M6 and TPS, Olivier joined Group CANAL +
in 2000 as On Air Promotion Manager. Since then Olivier developed the
CANAL+ Promo Factory, which produces promotions for 26 channels
broadcast by the group, prior to taking charge of the design department
of CANAL+ and becoming Director of Creative Services. In 2009 Olivier’s
big project was the rebrand of the CANAL+ channels, for which he worked
with the English company Devilfish.
CANAL+ FRANCE: VIVE LA CONCURRENCE
For
more than 20 years, CANAL+ had almost no competitor in the French pay
TV market. The equation “No competition = No pressure” allowed CANAL+ to
live comfortably (5 millions subscribers) with only very basic
communications: print ads but no TV ads, simple on air trailers and only
one change of graphic identity between 1984 and 2009. Olivier Schaack,
CANAL+ France’s Director of Creative Services, will demonstrate how
CANAL+ had to evolve in order to adapt to a changing market, developing
PROMAX and CANNES LIONS award-winning creative image and on air
campaigns and launching, in 2009, a revolutionary new on air identity in
collaboration with British company DEVILFISH.
